Online events

An event can happen in a room, on a screen, or both. The choice is Where it happens on the Details tab.

The three modes

At a venue : The normal case. Location and address, nothing else.

Online : No room. The customer gets a link instead of an address.

Both — a venue and online : People can come or watch. You still set a capacity for the room.

The link fields

Choosing Online or Both adds:

Joining link : The URL. It is never on the public event page: only somebody holding a ticket sees it, on their booking page and in their confirmation.

Meeting password : Optional, shown next to the link.

Show the link this many minutes before the start : Leave it at 0 and the link is there as soon as they book. Set 30 and it appears half an hour before, which stops a link for a paid webinar circulating a week in advance.

Where the customer finds it

• On the thank you page straight after booking
• In the confirmation email, through the {online_join_link} placeholder
• On their booking page, reached from My bookings, where a Join the event button appears once the link is due

Zoom, on paid plans

With Pro and a connected Zoom account you do not paste a link at all. The event offers Create the meeting automatically, and every date of the series gets a meeting of its own, made when the date is made:

Connect the account once under Settings → Integrations → Zoom, choose whether new events make a Zoom meeting or a Zoom webinar, who hosts, and how many days ahead meetings should be created. If Zoom refuses some dates the event says so rather than failing silently.

The rest of the behaviour is the same: the link is still hidden until it is due, and it still only reaches people holding a ticket.
